About Bull Ring

Have a halfway break at the bullring situated right on State Highway 1, 20km south of Tokoroa, 45km north of Taupo and 35km West of Rotorua.

The Bullring is an iconic stop. This building has been in existence for many years, is of rustic appearance and is a family operated business. We welcome everyone through our doors.

Call in and have a barista made coffee with a Devonshire scone or the best toastie that you will ever have or maybe the choice of our handmade burgers where we only use the freshest ingredients possible including meat patties that are divine and juicy scotch fillet steak the only steak we use for all our meals burgers and toasties, or maybe a good cooked breakfast or steak meal for dinner.

New Zealanders can reminisce about the series of Pukemanu made in the early seventies which was actually made at the Bullring and cast in the building.

At the Bullring we also have an onsite bottle store, café, an outside undercover area that is great for the summer coffee, dining and entertainment or winter events and an on license where you can buy something a little more relaxing, with accommodation where you can rest your weary body if you so desire.

We have eight rooms that are available with all rooms upgraded as family rooms inclusive of a TV. As you are looking for something a little more affordable we also have two standout cabins for all the backpackers.

There is a communal kitchen and lounge, as well as newly renovated showers and toilets separate for men and women.

There is a playground on site to keep the kids entertained. Stop off have a coffee and give the kids a break.

Backpackers feel free to pitch your tent if that is what you want to do and campervans are welcome to park up, look us up in the campervan association booklet.

Non-staying tourists are more than welcome to use our showers to freshen up but there will be a small cost to you for the usage.

Feel free to stay longer if you require as the Atiamuri area has Lake Ohakuri just down the road, a great summer spot for boats, fishing or families just to enjoy being by the water.

Cyclists we are only 3km from the end or the start of the cycle trail depending on which end you are starting from, feel free to leave your car at the Bullring if you are wanting to do a day ride or even if you overnight somewhere.

You can also base yourself to the affordable Bullring accommodation, Rotorua and Taupo are within easy driving distance as are the many attractions that they have to offer.

The Waikete Hot Pools are not too far away, a great place for a relaxing soak in their mineral pools.

Come and say “hi” to Angus our resident Bullring mascot the big Angus fibre glass bull you are welcome to take your picture with him.
